The average across your mix of services, before tax.
Products, laundry, payment fees and travel for one job.
Employee or contractor cost. Keep your own pay below.
Your month
Use a realistic month, allowing for quiet days.
Rent, insurance, software and equipment allowance.
What you want available for yourself, before personal tax.
Money left after expenses and your pay goal.
What goes where?

Count each cost once. Put per-job travel and supplies under direct costs; put monthly rent, insurance, software and equipment allowance under fixed expenses. Include paid workers here, but put your own pay in the pay goal. If you already count a cost per job, don’t add it again to monthly expenses.

Use averages across your service mix. This helps plan the whole business; it does not mean every package should have the same price. All amounts exclude sales tax.

What if a few jobs run over? (optional)

Keep the agreed price. See the impact of additional spending or bookings you lose. Extra owner time alone does not create an extra cash expense, but it can reduce your capacity.

Additional supplies or paid help, not your own extra time.
Jobs lost from this month because other work runs over.

A useful estimate leaves room for real life.

Photos help you understand a vehicle’s condition. They cannot tell you exactly how easily pet hair will release from the fabric or how stubborn salt stains will be. Better tools help, but sometimes you only understand the work once you start.

Explain and agree any pet-hair or salt-stain charges when taking the job. If unexpected work falls outside that agreement, discuss the options before doing it. An overrun does not automatically mean a surprise charge for the customer.

Local prices are context, not instructions. Compare the same vehicle size, included work, travel convenience and quality of results. Your costs and the value you provide still matter. Read BDC’s guide to setting prices.
